NRA Cuts Off EDSA & SLRSA Over Massive Arrears and Taxes ‘Gun Thunder’ Pulled.

LeoDigitalNews Update 24 April 2025

The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has taken the politically precarious action of locking the offices of EDSA & SLRSA for unpaid tax dues amounting to hundreds of millions of Leones. These enforcement actions carried out by EDSA headquarters on Electricity Building and SLRSA Freetown’s premises are legally defensible within the mandate of the NRA to ensure that public entities honor their debt payment obligations to the state.

As per records, EDSA is owing a whopping NLe 328,396,305.03 and SLRSA is lagging behind by NLe 15,336,611.76.Both of the offices have been closed with no set date of reopening and per standard enforcement procedures, management and staff were told to vacate the office.

The NRA highlighted that such action is not sanctioned, but rather an attempt to reinforce ethical standards of accountability and spending control within the government. The authority stressed that they are ready to put the discussion on the table with these agencies and move towards amicable resolution.
