Consequently, the Ministry, with support from the Office of the Chief Minister and other government agencies, wishes to announce that they have engaged the major importers and manufacturers of cement on Thursday 27th March 2025, to discuss and rationalise the market price of cement and to establish a pricing formula akin to that of rice and petroleum products. A pricing formula for cement was agreed as follows:
IMPORTED CEMENT FOR WESTERN AREA
- WHOLESALE PRICE SLE 150.00
- RETAIL PRICE SLE 170.00
LOCAL CEMENT (32.5R) FOR WESTERN AREA
- WHOLESALE PRICE SLE 135.00
- RETAIL PRICE SLE 155.00
However, due to unresolved factors, the price of cement in the provinces will be announced as soon as the cost of these factors are negotiated with the relevant bodies
The pricing formula will be reviewed and agreed periodically by Government and all major importers and producers.
The public is assured of Government’s continued commitment to ensuring a sustained supply of cement at an affordable and predictable price.
